Julian Rios is a Spanish author and translator, born in 1941 in Madrid. He is considered one of the most important contemporary writers in Spain and was awarded the Spanish National Prize for Literature in 2018.
Rios studied philosophy and literature at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and went on to earn a PhD in philology from the same university. He began his writing career as a translator, translating works by authors such as James Joyce and Samuel Beckett into Spanish.
His most famous novel is "Larva: A Midsummer Night's Babel," published in 1983, which is known for its experimental style and unconventional structure. His other works include "Neuronas," "El Infierno," and "El Caos."
Aside from his writing, Rios has also been a professor of literature and has taught at universities in Spain, Italy, France, and the United States. He has also been a contributor to various literary magazines and newspapers.
